Star pushed out by Rahul Dravid hits back at Indian Cricket over latest contract debacle

Discarded Indian star makes huge comment about Indian Cricket Board’s contract saga.

The latest central contracts handed by the Indian Cricket Board have raised a few questions. The selectors ignored Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer for the contracts this coming year. The two players have just made their comeback to cricket after earlier refusals to play Indian domestic cricket.

Former India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has spoken about the situation. The 39-year-old lost his place in the team after Rahul Dravid took over as the full-time coach. Despite being snubbed, Saha has been performing well for the Tripura side. The veteran star will pad up for Gujarat Titans in just three weeks during IPL 2024.

Shreyas Iyer is set to be back with Mumbai for the 1st semi-finals against Tamil Nadu starting on Saturday. Ishan Kishan has also returned to the field during the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup.

Wriddhiman Saha speaks on the latest central contract saga –

Former star Wriddhiman Saha has made a huge comment on Indian Cricket’s contract situation. The 39-year-old has said that the players who do not want to play domestic cricket cannot be forced.

Speaking to the media, the 39-year-old said “That is the Board’s decision and personal decision of concerned players. Forcefully, you can’t do anything”. It is worth noting that Saha lost his place in the team despite some impressive performances.

The veteran star also lauded Sarfaraz Khan for his amazing run in the domestic circuit. “I feel the importance of domestic cricket is always there because if I talk about Sarfaraz Khan, he had scored plenty of runs in the last 4-5 years. Definitely, he has delivered.”

Narrating his own experience, the discarded India star said, “Whenever I am fit I play, even I played club matches, office matches as well. I always treat a match as a match. All matches are equal for me. If every player thinks along those lines, they will only prosper in their career and it will be better for Indian cricket as well.”

Finally, the question about Dhruv Jurel popped up and Saha replied, “I have never seen him (Jurel) in domestic cricket, even in Test matches I have seen in his highlights. But his batting is outstanding, he won the last Test for the team.”
