Hyderabad and Chennai locked horns in the 46th game of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 at the MCA stadium in Pune. Winning the toss, the Orange Army chose to bowl first. The Yellow Brigade openers, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched a record opening partnership. However, they started conservatively in the powerplay and scored just 40 runs.
They started taking the attack to the opposition bowlers in the eighth over of the innings where the duo scored 13 runs off Umran Malik. After this, they mercilessly started hitting runs at more than 10 runs per over. Gaikwad looked like getting the second hundred of his Indian T20 League career but got out on 99, trying to play the cut shot in the 18th over of the innings.
At this stage, the scorecard read 182/1. The opening partnership of 182 runs was the fourth-highest in the history of the cash-rich league. On the other hand, Conway remained unbeaten on 85 as the team amassed 202/2. Talking about Hyderabad’s bowling, apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, all the bowlers traveled the journey.
In reply, the 2016 winners retaliated with the bat. Openers Abhishek Sharma (39 off 24) and skipper Williamson stitched a partnership of 58 runs in 5.5 overs. Sharma was caught at wide long-on by Dwaine Pretorius off Mukesh Choudhary. On the next ball, Rahul Tripathi (0) was caught at short third man by Simrajeet Singh with the powerplay ending on 58/2.
In form, Aiden Markram started well with 17 off 10 but was caught at wide long-on by Ravindra Jadeja off Mitchell Santner. Williamson (47 ) was the fourth wicket to fall in the innings as he was trapped lbw by Pretorius. Nicholas Pooran and Shashank Singh (15) tried to take the team close but the required run-rate kept on mounting. Pooran scored 64 not out off 33 balls but his side lost the game by 13 runs after being restricted to 189/6.

Indian uncapped fast bowlers are doing extremely well in this IPL. Afternoon game it was Mohsin Khan & this game Mukesh Choudhary. Future is bright. #SRHvCSK #IPL2022

Another catch dropped!!😲
Third catch put down by #CSK this evening, it might not cost them this game but fielding will be looked into closely by the team management going forward. #SRHvsCSK #IPL2022

With this type of fielding you can not win every game.
You guys will have to improve this.@ChennaiIPL— Suraj Tiwari Surya (@Surajtiwarisur4) May 1, 2022
Worest performance by CSK during bowling and fielding the only performance is the opener partnership to stepup #CSK

SRH let down by bowling. Not to take away anything from Gaikwad shose blistering 99 put His team in command from the start. #Dhoni back at the helm, third win completed. Place in the play-offs looks difficult still, but is there a #CSK redemption song being composed I wonder
