The Universe Boss Chris Gayle is celebrating his 43rd birthday today. Wishes have been pouring in for the West Indian from all over the world. Gayle has made a name for himself with his aggressive batting in various T20 leagues across the world. The southpaw is considered the greatest batter ever in T20 cricket. The West Indian legend took the cricketing world by storm when he scored a blistering 117 off 57 balls in the opening match of the first ever 20-20 World Cup. Gayle has never looked back since then as he has gone on to further stamp his authority in the various T20 leagues across the world.
It all began in the year 2011 when he shockingly went unsold during the auction of the Indian T20 League. However, Gayle’s destiny changed when he was roped in by the Bangalore franchise in the same year as a replacement for Dirk Nannes.
The Southpaw made a stunning impact on his comeback. Batting against his former employers, the Kolkata franchise, he smashed 102 not out off just 55 balls to deliver a nine-wicket win for his team. The 43-year-old further went on to score 608 runs in 12 matches of the season which earned him the coveted Orange Cap. Gayle once again put up a stellar show with the bat in the 2012 season scoring 733 runs in 15 matches and in 2013 he again scored 708 runs in 16 games.
The explosive opener became the most sought-after player in the T20 leagues across the world. With his exploits in the Indian T20 League, Gayle earned himself a massive fan following not just in India but across the world. He’s one of the most loved cricketers and doesn’t have any haters in any country. Gayle is the epitome of the word ‘entertainment’ as he never leaves his fans disappointed in any way.
