Once again, there are fresh reports of the Pakistan Cricket Team boycotting the ODI World Cup later this year in India. In recent times, there were fresh reports that surfaced in Pakistani media that the Men’s Asia Cup 2023 might get canceled. The reason for that is the inability of the Asian Cricket Council to hold the tournament in two nations. Apparently, India is highly unlikely to get permission to travel to Pakistan.

The Indian government might not give permission to play in the continental tournament in Pakistan. It is understood that with the 2018 edition shifted to the UAE. For the unversed, India was set to host the tournament. However, due to the security situation, the tournament was shifted to the United Arab Emirates, with India defending their title at the time. This time around, Pakistan is the host of the tournament.

However, as discussed before, India will not get permission to travel to the neighboring country. On the other hand, the PCB has been hellbent on playing the tournament albeit arranging a neutral venue for India. However, a few months back, when the PCB was led by Ramix Raja, they were hellbent on bringing the Men In Blue onto their soil. Not to forget, they also called for boycotting the World Cup if India didn’t play in Pakistan.

However, things changed a bit after Raja was sacked and replaced by Najam Sethi. Since the latter took over, he has had a different stance. The renowned Pakistani journalist had assured that the Indian team will get to play in a neutral venue.

Asian Cricket Council isn’t willing to play the Asia Cup 2023 on two venues

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that the ACC is finding holding the tournament in two venues financially unviable for many reasons. Also, there are reports that Pakistan might let go of the Asia Cup while India might host a five-nation tournament. Meanwhile, there are fresh reports that suggest Pakistan boycott Asia Cup.
