New Zealand and Gujarat player, Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the India T20 League 2023. He was signed by the defending champions at his base price of two crores. Williamson moved from Hyderabad to Gujarat this year. The right-hander played for the 2016 winners, Hyderabad from 2015 to 2022. Last year, he was signed by the Ahmedabad-based team for the ongoing season.
However, in the opening game of the 16th season against Chennai, the Kiwi tried to save a six. Even though the New Zealand white-ball skipper managed to save the six, he injured his knee in the process. His injury got so bad that he failed to stand up by himself. He was carried by the physio and one of the fielders toward the dressing room.
He was replaced by Sai Sudharsan as an impact player on the side. The left-hander played a good inning for the team. Meanwhile, Kane has been ruled out and will be going home.
“It is sad to lose Kane to injury so early in the tournament. We wish him a speedy recovery, with the hope of seeing him in action very soon,” Titans’ director of cricket Vikram Solanki, said in a statement.
On the other hand, Williamson is spotted walking with the help of walking sticks. This has gotten the fans a bit worried.
