In the 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs. Riding on Devon Conway and Shivam Dube‘s half-centuries, CSK outplayed RCB in their backyard. However, the game didn’t go well for the former RCB skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli failed to capitalise on the batting track and got out after scoring six runs.
He was dismissed by Youngster Aakash Singh while he tried to nab him out of the park. Meanwhile, after the game, in yet another disappointment, Kohli has been charged by IPL for breach of the Code of Conduct. The 35-year-old batter has been fined for level 1 of offence by the match referee.
In a recent press release, IPL informed about the decision and said that Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. It said, “Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.”
Virat Kohli aggressively celebrated Shivam Dube’s dismissal
Notably, earlier in the game, CSK batter Shivam Dube hammered a brilliant half-century with the help of some huge sixes. Dubey, in his innings, scored 52 runs off 27 balls with the help of five sixes and two boundaries. He hammered the longest six of the season as he hit a ball 111 meters long. He was dismissed by Parnell and Kohli was pumped up after his dismissal.
Though the advisory from IPL didn’t reveal the particular incident for which Kohli has been charged, fans are assuming that this aggressive celebration could be the reason behind it. Notably, earlier in MI vs KKR game, Mumbai bowler Hrithik Shokheen and KKR skipper Nitish Rana got indulged in a heated argument, for which, IPL penalized both of them.
