Usama Mir, the Pakistani bowler, pleaded with cricket supporters not to be critical of the squad after they were on the losing end of their crucial Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by two wickets (DLS Method), securing a spot in the competition’s final match against India
Due to injury, both of Pakistan’s pacers, Naseem Shah as well as Haris Rauf were unable to compete in the match. However, After the team’s defeat, supporters began to criticise the squad for their subpar performance.
We need to stop being so reactionary as fans: Usman Mir
Usama Mir, who did not play against Sri Lanka, turned to Twitter to ask supporters not to criticize the squad based on only one or two games.
The pacer first expressed his gratitude for supporting the side and urged for support for the side instead of criticism. Meanwhile, He wrote on his official X account, “Thank you for your support wherever we are in the World. Furthermore, It truly means a lot. But support should be a 2-way thing. Meanwhile, In good times everyone praises us. And then as soon as we have a few bad games we are the worst cricketers of all time and nobody is with us. therefore,This really hurts. We need your support more in the bad times than in the good.”
He further stated that he was disappointed by the kind of hate that the fans were giving the vice-captain Shadab Khan. He said, “The most important thing I’d like to say is that 1-2 matches don’t define a cricketer. Hence, Shadab Khan doesn’t perform in a few games he’s not a bad cricketer. However,Now everyone is saying he’s in the team due to ‘friendship’ and other stuff. It is nonsense. I’ve seen first hand how he and the rest train. Though, We give our 100% effort. Now if Shadab performs in the next game, all of a sudden he is the greatest etc etc? We need to stop being so reactionary as fans.”

Yeah we should back them up but tell me how a player like Abdullah benched and yesterday nobody was available so he got the chance at the last moment, and you know if he didnot play yesterday, he would have b nae n out if wc squad. We are criticizing because there are few 1/2

I disagree with you Usama. None of us have any personal issues with Shadab but if he is totally out of form then you can rest him and give chance to other players.
What's the point of having backup players when you are never going to rest out of form players.

Usama bhai why where you dropped then? You should have been given more of a chance like others. As you said 1 or 2 games don't make you average. We've seen your ability and no doubt InshaAllah you will shine for Pakistan when only you have been given run of games.

Usama bhai you are a champion. ??? Please, don't advocate for others like this. This is upto PCB and management and they will do whatever is good for the National team.
A bowler who is been skipping FC cricket since 2019 is prone to this kind of bad performance. ODI is not T20— Zia (@mardgeer777) September 15, 2023
