England red-ball captain Ben Stokes is facing a different challenge after the recently concluded Ashes series, his luggage has gone missing. He received very poor services from British Airways. Meanwhile, the England captain has recently inspired his team to a 2-2 draw in the 2023 Ashes against Australia from a 0-2 deficit.
He has taken the concern on Twitter where he also tagged the official handle of British Airways. The airline was quick to respond through the comments section and vowed to assist the cricketer with his issue. His next international red-ball series comes in the form of a five-match Test series against India away from home in early 2024.
Bags not turned up off the plane: Ben Stokes
“Bags not turned up off the plane @British_Airways and help would be greatly appreciated,” Stokes wrote. British Airways replied pretty quickly, offering to look into the matter for him – but this drew criticism, with one Twitter user replying, “He, quite literally, is BEN STOKES. What more details do you need.”
Stokes will need time to recover after the tough five-match series, which concluded with a thrilling encounter at The Oval, followed by a nightclub meeting with the Australian players. The two teams were supposed to hold the post-series party in The Oval’s dressing room, however, time issues forced a change in the programme. With no more One-Day Internationals, the all-rounder plans to have his ailing knee examined. Due to his knee ailment, he mostly batted in the series and scored over 400 runs, including a remarkable hundred in the fourth innings at Lord’s.
The three Lions have lost 4-0 and 3-1 across their last two tours to India, but remain the last team to have defeated them in the subcontinent. Commenting on whether the ‘Bazball’ approach will work in India as well, Stokes said during the post-match press conference, “I remember when we beat New Zealand 3-0, (the chatter) was we couldn’t do it against South Africa, (we) couldn’t do it against Pakistan, (we) couldn’t do it against Australia. So who knows if we can do it against India, only time will tell.”
