The action returned in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosting the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the iconic Eden Garden in Kolkata. While KKR were riding a two-match winning streak, RR had lost their previous three games in IPL 2023. Going by current form, KKR will be looking to capitalise on their winning momentum. Yuzvendra Chahal set the stage on fire as KKR were dismissed for 149/8 in their 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer remained the top scorer for KKR with 57 off 42, while skipper Nitish Rana was the only other batter who could surpass the 20-run mark. For RCB, Yuzvendra Chahal remained the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/25 in four overs. Trent Boult returned with two wickets, while Sandeep Sharma and KM Asif had one scalp apiece.

In the 56th game of the premier competition, spin maestro Chahal, one of the best bowlers in IPL history, broke Bravo’s previous mark. Chahal had previously matched Bravo’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium record by taking four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He continued his amazing streak in the current RR game by dismissing KKR captain Rana to surpass Bravo on the IPL wicket-takers table. Chahal now has 187 wickets compared to the previous record of 183 for Bravo.
