In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Gujarat Titans hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After winning the toss SRH skipper Aiden Markram invited GT to bat first in the crucial game. While batting first GT opener Shubman Gill scored his maiden IPL ton. Gill scored his first IPL ton on 56 balls and helped GT to post in 20 overs.
Earlier, after being called to bat first GT got off to a shaky start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Wriddhiman Saha for a three-ball duck. After his departure, Gill along with Sai Sudarshan added 147 runs for the first wicket. In his amazing innings, Sai Sudarshan started by running a ball knock and later paced his innings. Sudarshan in his innings scored 47 runs off 36 balls with the help of six boundaries and a six. He was dismissed by Marco Jansen.
After his dismissal skipper Hardik Pandya joined Gill in the middle but soon was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 8 runs off 6 balls. It opened floodgates as David Miller and Rahul Tewatia also crumbled and were dismissed by T Natrajan and Fazalhaq Farooqi respectively. On the other hand, Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and a six. For SRH Bhuvi clinched five wickets while Jansen, Natrajan and Farooqi clinched a wicket each.
Can SRH chase down against a star-studded bowling line-up?
Aiden Markram’s Sunrisers Hyderabad will need to chase runs to stay alive in the race playoffs. Orange Army will expect their batters to score some runs and forget records against Rashid Khan and company. However, SRH batter Abhishek Sharma has an amazing record against Rashid and would like to continue his dominance over him.
Notably, in the game Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans. He has been one of the best T20 players for Sri Lanka in recent times. He has scored 1351 runs in 83 T20 international games while clinching 25 wickets at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 8.13.
