In their thrilling Asia Cup 2023 match, India defeated Sri Lanka by a decisive margin of 41 runs to go to the finals of the tournament. On September 17, the final between India and one of Pakistan or Sri Lanka will take place in Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium.
The Indian bowlers against Sri Lanka really picked up their game with a manageable target of 214 runs on the line. In the end, they bowled them out for only 172 runs under 41.3 overs after continuing to pick off wickets at regular intervals.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was the standout player in the last match versus Pakistan where he picked up a five-wicket haul, made the task seem simple by snatching four wickets in this contest. He got rid of the set batters, Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama one by one.
Designated wicketkeeper KL Rahul was crucial to both of Kuldeep’s wickets. He first demonstrated his lightning-quick reactions by stumping Samarawickrama, who was in fine form but left the game with only 17 runs to his credit.
The Indian wicketkeeper then dismissed Charith Asalanka at 22 with an incredible catch behind the stumps in Kuldeep’s very next delivery.

The Lucknow Super Giants skipper spoke to the media after Team India’s impressive victory over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023. He spoke about the advice he gave Kuldeep Yadav and how he executed the plan convincingly.
He said, “I am not gonna take any credit for the wickets he has taken. He still had to execute the skill. From behind the stumps, you can read what the batsman is doing, where he is going to play, where you can probably get him out so yeah, I just passed on the message and luckily for me, for Kuldeep, and for the team it paid off immediately. It happened in the last game against Pakistan so that’s how you build trust with your bowlers.”
