Kolkata is having a great time in the Indian T20 League 2022 under their new leader Shreyas Iyer. With two wins in their first three matches of the tournament, Kolkata is placed second in the points table. The bowling of the team loss was well-sorted except for a few concerns in the death overs, and with Russell hitting form in the last match, the team’s batting woes are also getting solved.
The Head Coach of the Kolkata team, Brendon McCullum confirmed that the star pacer of the team Pat Cummins will be available for selection in their next match against Mumbai. Pat Cummins was bought by Kolkata for a price of INR 7.25 Cr in the mega auction ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022. But the star Aussie was unavailable for the franchise in the first three matches owing to national duty. Although, he has arrived for the tournament and has joined the team last week. Revealing his availability, McCullum also said that the presence of the Australian Test captain in the first eleven will add an element of leadership for Shreyas Iyer.
“Pretty delighted to get Pat back. He is a wonderful human being and can blend with the environment easily. We have got a few selection headaches. We have more options now to pick from, which is a good problem, and hopefully, we get them right,â€-McCullum said during a conversation with the media.
The pace attack of Kolkata will get a boost with Pat Cummins’ inclusion. They have been doing brilliantly with the new ball exploits of Umesh Yadav, but Cummins’ presence can be their solution to the death-over problems.
