Watch : Pravin Tambe gets emotional as Kolkata squad watches his biopic

The Pravin Tambe biopic, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe’ has created quite a buzz ever since it was announced. The film, which was released today, April 1st,  is based on the life of Tambe and his struggles to keep playing the game despite difficulties. Tambe was in the probable of the Mumbai Ranji team in the year 2000. However, he didn’t get to play first-class cricket for many years. The medium-pacer turned leg spinner kept playing club cricket for 13 years.

In 2013, Rajasthan bought him at the player auction and the Mumbai-born player got the opportunity to play in the Indian T20 League. The right-arm bowler played for the team till 2015 before the team was suspended for two seasons. The 50-year-old was also part of Gujarat and Hyderabad in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Notably, he is the first Indian player to play the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

In 2022, he got the opportunity to play for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). Meanwhile, he is currently working as the spin bowling coach of Kolkata. Recently, a special screening of the movie was kept for the Kolkata squad. During the screening and receiving the applauds for his never give up attitude, Tambe became emotional during the event. He went on to say that one should “never give up on their dreams.” Skipper Shreyas Iyer said that he was desperate to watch the film.

“We finally got to watch the movie. I was so desperate and excited to know the journey of a man who is nothing but an inspiration for all of us, ” said Iyer.
