Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne got hit on his thumb in the ongoing WTC final against India at The Oval, London. The incident happened in the eighth over of Australia’s first innings. Mohammed Siraj bowled this over, starting with a rip-snorter that hit Labuschagne on his right thumb. The latter was standing outside his crease and with the ball coming in, it hit the Aussie.
After the nasty hit, the game was paused for a bit with the physio running in and attending to the Queensland player. After the brief pause, the game resumed and the South Africa born edged the ball towards the slips. However, to this good luck, the Red Dukes’ ball died in front of the fielder. Meanwhile, the fans were shocked after seeing the extra bounce as India would be batting last.

Meanwhile, Marnus is currently batting on 16 and will look to play big innings in the ongoing summit clash. The team lost their first wicket only after scoring two runs in the fourth over. At the time of writing, Labucshagne and David Warner have put together 50 runs and counting for the second wicket. The Aussies have scored 54/1 at the time of writing.

At the top of the list, former England Test skipper, Joe Root has 1915 runs and is likely to remain there. After all, the next best in the table, Usman Khawaja has 1608 runs to his name and has already lost his wicket. Meanwhile, only Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is ahead of Labuschagne by only two runs. It is quite likely that the Australia’s number three will go ahead.
