The Bombay High Court denied a petition on Tuesday. A ban on Indians, businesses, and organisations collaborating with Pakistani actors was the goal of this petition. Actors, singers, musicians, lyricists, and technicians are among these artists. It was an unjustified “retrograde step in promoting cultural harmony, unity, and peace” that the petition represented.
The petitioner is employed in the motion picture business. They had requested directives to prohibit Pakistani artists and restrict their visas from the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting, External Affairs, and Home Affairs. The court observed that considering such petitions would undermine the Indian government’s efforts to advance international peace and security, such as allowing the Pakistani cricket team to participate in the World Cricket Cup in India. It was reported by Live Law.
Pakistani actors to work in India:
Following the Uri incident, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) agreed in September 2016 to prohibit Pakistani actors from working in the business. As to the statement made by IMPPA President TP Aggarwal, “(The) IMPPA in their 87th annual general meeting passed (a resolution that) no Pakistani will be hired by their producer members forever.” The petitioner asked for policy directives, but the court ruled that it could not direct the government or legislature on how to formulate policies. Live Law thus stated that the petition was denied.
Pakistani artist Fawad Khan starred in two Dharma Productions films, “Kapoor and Sons” and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.” Meanwhile, Mahira Khan was in Shah Rukh Khan‘s film “Raees.” Indian film music has featured vocalists such as Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in the past. It will be interesting to see the projects these phenomenal artists come up with in the Indian film industry after the ban has been lifted.
These Pakistani actors have a huge fan following in India. The Indian audience is eagerly waiting to see them create history with their iconic performances and dream collaboration with the Indian actors and directors. From singers to actors, the audience is eagerly awaiting the return of their favourite Pakistani artist in India.
