Mumbai Indians hosted Rajasthan Royals in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Young Yashasvi Jaiswal trounced the five-time champions and, later, smashed a superb century in the tournament’s 1000th game. Jaiswal hit 16 boundaries in his innings, which is tied for the most in the current season.
Earlier, RR skipper Sanju Samson chose to bat first against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians after winning the toss. Batting first, RR got off to a flying start as Jaiswal hammered all the bowlers. He and Jos Buttler put up 72 runs for the first wicket. Buttler got 18 runs off 19 balls, which included two boundaries and a six.
After his dismissal, not a single RR batter stood with Jaiswal, who led his team to a big total on his own. Jaiswal smashed 124 runs off 62 balls with 16 boundaries and eight maximums in his incredible effort. Arshad Khan removed Jaiswal in the final over with a questionable delivery.
The ball dipped as it passed through the batter, but it made contact at waist height. The umpire ruled in favour of Rohit Sharma and his team and ruled Jaiswal out. Meanwhile, Arshad Khan starred with the ball for MI, taking three wickets. In addition to him, ace spinner Piyush Chawla took two wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal curated a record-breaking innings
In his insanity, Jaiswal smashed and destroyed numerous records. He had the best individual score by an uncapped player in the Indian Premier League’s history. He also had the highest individual score for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL history. He and Jos Buttler both have now 124 runs to their name.
Meanwhile, RR’s highest team total against the Mumbai Indians was 193/8 before this game. It was also broken by the team as they posted a total of 212 runs. The previous highest total came in 2022 at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai. Notably, this game is critical for the Mumbai Indians as they aim to mount a comeback and get back on track. They are now ninth in the standings and will be trying to improve.

My current favourite indian batsmen is yashasvi jaiswal @ybj_19 !! What a clear mindset he carries along the game, i want him in the current indian cricket team as a destructive opening batsmen, firing all around the park. #MIvsRR #IPL2O23

The only reason I like @rajasthanroyals is they give exposure to so many young talents (Jaddu , Sanju , Yashasvi and many more ) .. true IPL spirit..
