Kane Williamson has two weeks to demonstrate that he is over his knee injury, after which the Black Caps will choose their team for the 2023 ODI World Cup, according to New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.

Their preparation for the next competition has not been great, starting with Kane Williamson’s injury in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season opener. He needed assistance leaving the pitch after being hurt while attempting to keep a boundary out, which forced him out of the franchise league.

All-rounder Michael Bracewell was additionally forced to withdraw from the competition owing to injury, adding to their problems. He competed during the IPL with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as a substitute for Will Jacks and had a successful tour of India earlier this year.

Kane Williamson certainly has a distance to go in his recuperation, according to Gary Stead. In anticipation of the England trip, he spoke with media. The head coach spoke more about his recovery. He said, “He’s in full rehab mode, he’s back batting in the nets again which is great to see. He’s progressing really well, but again there’s a lot of work for him still to do to make sure he gets to where we need him to be. So we’re going to give him the full two weeks to prove where he’s at and for us it’s still a little bit of crystal ball-gazing, where he will be at.”
