Jasprit Bumrah’s injury seems more severe than it first seemed, and he might be out for longer than anticipated. Currently, the India pacer is highly uncertain to play in the upcoming Indian T20 League, which will take place in April and May. If India qualifies, there’s even a chance he won’t be ready for the Test Championship final in the UK in June either.

Bumrah, who has been sidelined for more than five months, has reportedly not felt at ease with his recovery. The Indian squad wants to prepare him for the World Cup in October-November, if not necessarily for the Asia Cup, according to reports.

The Indian pacer has been out of the team for over five months. He last donned the Indian jersey against Australia in their T20I series on September 25th, 2022. He was supposed to be a part of the squad for the series against Sri Lanka that concluded in January. However, the Indian Cricket Board decided not to rush him into the series.

Last year, Bumrah missed major tournaments such as the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup. He also did not make the cut for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is crucial for India to qualify for the World Test Championship final.

In the meantime, it’s a major setback for the Mumbai team, who will look to rebound in the Indian T20 League 2023 after a disastrous 2022 season in which they finished at the bottom of the points table with only four wins in 14 matches.

Fans were shocked at hearing the news of Bumrah missing out on two crucial events. They will now have to wait a little longer for the duo of Jofra Archer and Bumrah to take field in the Indian T20 League. “Very disappointing. What exactly happened to bumrah & role of NCA. It seems like they are good for nothing. If they rule him out from IPL because of WTC & WC then its understandable but can’t get fit for WTC ! A real problem in NCA, they can’t get a player fit in 10 months Wow,” wrote a fan.
