Danielle Wyatt announces engagement with same-sex partner

Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian Cricket team, used to be a huge favourite of England women’s team batter Danielle Wyatt. In a shocking social media post on Thursday, March 2, Wyatt revealed she was engaged to her same-sex partner Georgie Hodge. Hodge is the director of CAA Base’s women’s football programme.

Wyatt was in action with the England women’s team in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup where the English women advanced to the semifinal stages. She will take a short sabbatical in the coming months.

Unexpectedly, Wyatt failed to attract a bid during the Women’s T20 League 2023 auction, and she will not play in the premier T20 competition. She still has access to teams and can join them as a substitute player if they so choose. Danielle Wyatt, nicknamed Waggy, has previously been in two relationships with footballers. She reportedly said, “They say I am a wannabe WAG” in a 2015 interview. Wyatt is affectionately remembered by Indian cricket fans for ‘proposing’ marriage to Virat Kohli. She tweeted, “Kholi, marry me!!” in 2014.

Wyatt has represented England in 142 T20Is and 102 ODIs. In 50 overs, she has 1776 runs and 27 wickets. She has also taken 46 wickets in the shortest format and scored 2369 runs.

The 31-year-old had previously participated in the Women’s T20 Challenger, organized by the Indian Cricket Board.
