India and Australia are set to clash in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. The world’s biggest stadium will be the host for this epic finale between the two teams. India are the firm favourites to win the final and claim their third ODI World Cup trophy.
However, Australia is the one team that the Indians should not take lightly. Their side has the pedigree to perform in the toughest of circumstances and can dominate any opposition on their day. They would be looking to add another ODI World Cup title to their already glorious collection.
There has been a lot of discussion on the kind of pitches offered to teams throughout the ODI World Cup 2023. There were some stadiums that offered surfaces suitable for the batters. Whilst some offered assistance to spinners throughout the game and those surfaces became some of the toughest to bat upon.
After the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 was completed, there were reports that the same pitches will be used for the knock-out stages. This meant that the fresh wickets prepared for the knock-out matches will not come to play at all.
The first semi-final between India and New Zealand was played on the same surface. After the match, there was no talk at all about the pitch. Even when Shubman Gill was asked about the pitch controversy, he said that he did not have any clue about it.
“We play a lot of cricket over here” : Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins faced the reporters in the pre-match press conference ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Furthermore, he confirmed that the pitch will be one of the older pitches that was used in the league stages of the competition.
He said, “It’s obviously the same for both teams. No doubt playing on your own wicket, in your own country has some advantages. But we play a lot of cricket over here.”
