Son of Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar Arjun Tendulkar has been training under Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh’s guidance at the DAV academy in Chandigarh. The 22-year-old is getting prepared for the upcoming JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament.

Yograj Singh, who is the father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, played for Team India in the 1980s. He made his Test debut against New Zealand in Wellington, while also making his ODI debut against the same opposition in Brisbane.

Arjun made his domestic debut last year but has only featured in two T20 matches. The bowling all-rounder has also been part of the Mumbai franchise setup but has yet to make his debut for the 5-time Indian T20 League champions. Arjun recently shifted his base to Goa from Mumbai in search of a better opportunity.

Arjun’s father and legendary batter, Sachin Tendulkar said the shift to Goa would provide his son with the maximum game time, which is very important during this stage of his career.

“Getting maximum game time on the ground is important for Arjun at this juncture of his career. We believe that the shift will improve the probability of Arjun featuring in more competitive matches. He is embarking on a new phase of his cricketing career,” said Sachin Tendulkar.

Having made his debut in 1980, Yograj could only play one Test and six ODIs for India. He got into headlines after he blamed MS Dhoni for ruining the career of his son Yuvraj Singh. After being awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the 2011 ODI World Cup, Yuvraj was not selected in the team for the 2015 edition of the tournament. Yuvraj’s exclusion had annoyed his father who lashed out at the former Indian captain for playing politics in the team.

Meanwhile, Arjun has his sights set on making an impression in the upcoming JP Atray Memorial Tournament, where 16 teams will be participating. The participating teams will include Goa Cricket Association, Players Academy XI Delhi, HPCA, JKCA, Minerva Cricket Academy, UTCA Chandigarh, Players XI Bihar, Baroda Cricket Association, RBI Mumbai, PCA Colts and MPCA.

The tournament will be held in six different venues in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
