‘Sahi bande se sikha hai’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma mentions the name of his teammate from whom he learnt Test captaincy

Rohit Sharma played a lot of Tests under the captaincy of Indian batter Virat Kohli.

When Rohit Sharma said that he picked up captaincy skills from his colleague and previous captain Virat Kohli during Test cricket, he once again demonstrated his admiration for Kohli.

Arguably, India’s best Test skipper in the nation’s cricket history has been Virat Kohli. India won their first-ever Test series in Australia under Kohli, while they only lost two Test contests at home throughout his tenure. In foreign Test matches, Kohli established a bowling assault capable of taking 20 wickets by constructing a fast bowling culture. India won some iconic Test matches against Australia, England, as well as South Africa while Virat Kohli was captain.

But in 2022, following a series defeat in South Africa, Virat Kohli resigned from the position due to disagreements with the Indian Cricket Board, which was then led by Sourav Ganguly. After that, Rohit Sharma was appointed as the all-format captain of Team India.

An old video of Rohit Sharma has gone viral on social media. In that video clip, he reveals how he learnt from Virat Kohli while playing under him in Tests.

“I learned when Virat was captaining” : Rohit Sharma

Rohit had revealed this in Nagpur during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. He said, “Setting the field right, when I was playing as a player, Virat was captaining then. I noticed one thing that, no matter if we don’t get a wicket, but that pressure has to be there so that the opposition makes a mistake. That is something I learned when Virat was captaining and these guys were bowling.”

The Team India skipper said that, “That’s is what I am trying to do now, just apply that pressure, don’t get too excited with the wicket. The wickets are not going to come every ball, it’s not going to come like that. If it happens, then nothing like that. We got to remind ourselves that it’s not going to happen as frequently. We need to keep working hard,”
