IPL 2024
5 players Mumbai Indians can target in the IPL 2024 Auction
Mumbai Indians have some areas that they are hopeful of improving in the IPL 2024 Auctions.
The Mumbai Indians (MI) have emerged as the most talked-about franchise in recent days after causing chaos on retention day. In order to complete one of the largest transactions in league history, they brought back Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans (GT). Later, in yet another surprising move, the five-time winners transferred Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
They have most of their bases going into the IPL 2024 auction. MI still has to complete a few spots, so it will be fascinating to watch which players they choose to purchase during the IPL 2024 auction. However, they only have 17.75 crores to play around in the auction.
5 players MI can target in the IPL 2024 Auction
5) Adil Rashid
Mumbai Indians needs a spinner badly and who would be better than Adil Rashid. The English spinner has often proved himself on the world stage. But, in the IPL he has been unable to establish himself as a starter. They can certainly afford him as he would be relatively cheap. The former Sunrisers Hyderabad player might be a fruitful option for Mumbai Indians and on a pitch like Wankhede, he can be a match-winner.
4) Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga was surprisingly released by Royal Challengers Bangalore which can be a blessing in disguise for Mumbai Indians. Given that he is a spinner and a useful pinch-hitter in the lower order, the Mumbai Indians should aim to sign him.The Mumbai Indians could really need somebody like Hasaranga, who is a foreign spinner and would be a wonderful asset to the team. However, given that several teams will be vying for him, he may possibly be pricey.
3) Mitchell Starc
Considered by many to be one of the best pacers in the world, Mitchell Starc is anticipated to fetch a high price during the IPL 2024 auction. The Australian may become the centre of fierce tender disputes as teams try to give their bowlers a deadly weapon due to his ability to wreak damage with his speed and swing. Since Mumbai can buy overseas players, they might look to add someone like Starc to their bowling line-up. However, they might have to break a major chunk of their purse to buy him.
2) Josh Inglis
One might argue which IPL franchises would really want Josh Inglis in the auction, as is typically the case with any quality foreign player who performs well in Indian conditions. In 101 T20 matches, he has amassed 2591 runs with a strike average of 149.94, including three hundreds. He is definitely a possibility because he is a wicketkeeper and Ishan Kishan is the only experienced keeper in the Mumbai Indians squad.
1) Kartik Tyagi
The Mumbai Indians are among teams who will be keeping an eye on Kartik Tyagi. Kartik can provide an alternative option for either Jasprit Bumrah or Akash Madhwal in the squad. He’s a great choice since he can strike the deck with pace. Being a domestic speedster benefits MI as well, as they had released a large number of pacers prior to the auction. However, Tyagi could be pricey, and Mumbai Indians don’t have large wallets.
