ACC Women’s T20 Championship 2022- Malaysia vs Qatar and Kuwait vs Nepal- Match Review

Malaysia

In the ongoing ACC Women’s T20 Championship 2022, Qatar and Malaysia took on each other in the 8th match of the tournament on Saturday. Qatar batted first and were bundled out for just 69 runs on the board. Aysha played an unbeaten knock of 33 runs in 47 balls for Qatar, however, she lacked support from the other end.

The wickets kept falling at the other end and Qatar could not score a lot of runs on the board. For Malaysia, it was a collective bowling effort. Skipper Winifred Duraisingam and Nur Dania Syuhada picked two wickets each, while Azmi and Eleesa picked one apiece.

Malaysia, in reply, chased down the score in just 12.3 overs without even losing a single wicket. Skipper Winifred Duraisingam played an unbeaten knock of 29 runs in 37 balls, while Wan Julia remained unbeaten on 31 off 38 deliveries. As a result, Malaysia won the game by 10 wickets. With that win, Malaysia currently top the Group A table with 2 wins in 2 matches.

On the other hand, Qatar are at number four and are yet to open the account.  Talking about the seventh game, Kuwait took on Nepal in a Group B encounter. Nepal batted first in that game and managed to score 1207 runs on the board. Rubina Chhetry played an unbeaten knock of 34 runs in 27 balls, while Indu Barma scored 28 runs in 33 deliveries. The other batters, however, failed to hit the straps.

Mariamma Hyder was the pick of the bowlers for Kuwait as she returned with figures of 2 for 10 in 4 overs. In pursuit of that score, Kuwait could only manage to score 87 runs in the second innings, thereby losing the game by 25 runs.

Priyada Murali looked good for his 31 off 40 balls but wickets kept falling at the other end. Mariamma Hyder remained unbeaten on 16 off 14 balls but she couldn’t take the team home in the end. With that win, Nepal are at the top of the Group B table with 2 wins in 2 matches. Kuwait, on the other hand, have lost both the games they have played so far and thus sit at second from the bottom.
