‘Ab kya changes karoge bhai’ – Fans react to Hyderabad Cricket Association request schedule change for Pakistan’s warm-up match in ODI World Cup 2023

The Hyderabad Police have warned the state association about the extra number of personnel required for the ODI World Cup 2023 games

Hyderabad Cricket Association

Another state association has asked the Indian cricket board to change the dates of the ODI World Cup 2023, adding to the growing list of organisational challenges. The security agencies have stated that they will not be able to offer enough protection owing to the festivities of Ganesh Visarjan as well as Milan-Un-Nabi, which culminates on September 28. As a result, the Hyderabad Cricket Association has requested that the warm-up game between Pakistan and New Zealand on September 29 be “reconsidered.”

The two back-to-back ODI World Cup 2023 league games planned to take place on October 9 and October 10 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad had already sparked security concerns, according to The Indian Express. It is known that HCA has sent the Indian Cricket Board executives an email concerning their request once more.

The HCA is displeased that the Indian Cricket Board has not properly communicated with them and that they are still waiting for an official letter containing the amended timetable. The local authorities have been demanding formal letters concerning the changed schedule from the apex cricket body or the Indian Cricket Board, and the HCA officials are having trouble persuading them. There hasn’t been any contact since the Indian board wrote a letter in June confirming the previously established schedule.

Hyderabad Police place warning to HCA

The HCA had been advised by the Hyderabad Police that they would not be able to manage the two games, particularly with the complex security measures needed for the Pakistan encounter. A huge number of police officers will be positioned at the hotel in which the Pakistani team will be staying, and around 3,000 police officers are expected to be present for one game.

According to reports, the police have notified HCA that if the other game, New Zealand vs. Netherlands will be conducted on the scheduled day, they won’t be able to provide sufficient protection for the Pakistan game. The Indian Cricket Board did not alter the dates and continued with their plan despite the HCA’s request.
