Aaron Finch has been having a torrid time with the bat in hand at present. He has not been able to find the flow of his willow and he has looked in absolute dire straits. However, he is still persisted as the Skipper of the Australian side. Andrew McDonald had also spoken about this recurring problem with Aaron Finch of not being able to spend time in the middle and score runs.
Finch had a series to forget against Zimbabwe, where he scored 15 in the 1st ODI, a run in the second ODI after playing six balls, and only 5 runs from 11 balls in the third game, in which Zimbabwe emerged victorious. He was dismissed LBW by Trent Boult in the first ODI against New Zealand.
This proves that he is not able to buy a run and he is having a terrible spell of form with the bat. He averaged a paltry 11 from his last 11 ODI innings. His position in the side has been under heavy scrutiny in a big way following the tricky series against Zimbabwe.
Speaking to the press, McDonald said Finch must be positive in his batting. “I think it’ll just be about clearing his mind, clearing his thoughts and going out there and looking to be positive,” McDonald said.
Perhaps, Aaron Finch needs to find some inspiration to rediscover his mojo. He can look at old videos where he was churning out the runs in big numbers and it can help him to identify his flaws and rectify his mistakes. This can help him feel better and more confident about himself and maybe he will get back to being the old Finch.
“When he’s positive, his feet move a lot better than potentially when he’s doubting. And that’s every batsman’s case when they feel as though they haven’t got the runs that they want – they search for a little bit more and sometimes that can take away from … just clearing those thoughts and responding to what’s coming down,” the Australian Head Coach said.
The way Aaron Finch has been getting out has got Twitter into a tizzy, let us have a look at the reactions here-
Aaron Finch has enjoyed one of the greatest piggyback rides of all time with his Australian career and captaincy. #AUSvNZ

@cricketcomau Looks like Aaron Finch obtained the PR (Permanent Residency in Cricket Team) which allows being in the team irrespective of performance. And probably such thing is being allowed to happen for first time in Australian Cricket History. How Many More Chances???????

It's still in Aaron Finch's hands how his ODI career concludes, but he's rarely needed runs more than he does against New Zealandhttps://t.co/iJZqiOKXyB #AUSvNZ

Aaron Finch is a liability for any team in current situation, so before the T20 WC, @CricketAus has to take a bold decision to change the captain if they can fit in Phillipe/ Mcdermott in the opening slot that would just be a good investment for the future.

Australia has its own shortcomings against quality pace bowling, but Aaron Finch's defensive approach is not helping matters either. playing home games and opting to field first game after game in ODI's,this is very uncommon Down under.Finch just trying to cling on to captaincy.
