The last match of the Super 4 stage in the Asia Cup 2022 ended with Sri Lanka winning their fourth consecutive match of the tournament. The Sri Lankan team bundled Pakistan for mere 121 runs and chased down the target in 17 overs winning the match by five wickets. Pakistan fans were unhappy with their team’s performance and lashed out at the fast bowler Hasan Ali for his forgettable performance in the match.
Ali got out for a duck before giving away 25 runs in three overs with the ball. However, despite having a forgettable performance in the match, the seamer stole the limelight with a stunning catch. The fans were in complete disbelief seeing the 28-year-old grab the ball safely in his hands.
The incident took place on the second ball of the 16th over when Dasun Shanaka, looking to finish the game quickly tried to go for a big shot down the ground. However, he couldn’t read the off-cutter from Mohammad Hasnain and ended up mistiming the shot as the ball went high in the night sky. Hasan Ali, who was stationed at mid-off ran backwards and completed a brilliant catch avoiding a collision with Iftikhar Ahmed who was running in from long on.
Pakistan fans couldn’t believe their eyes seeing the ball stick safely in the hands of the fast bowler. What made the moment even more epic was the celebration by both Ali and Ahmed. After completing the catch both the players tossed the ball to one another sitting comfortably on the ground as if playing catch-catch.

The fast bowler has found himself being a butt of jokes for dropping catches on numerous occasions in the past. The most famous drop by Ali was during the semi-final of the 2021 20-20 World Cup. At a crucial stage of the match, he dropped the catch of Australia’s Matthew Wade who ended up taking the game away from Pakistan.
