Gujarat puts his weight behind new skipper to come good in Indian T20 League

The Gujarat franchise is one of the two new teams participating in the Indian T20 League season 15. The franchise has appointed veteran English batsman Vikram Solanki as the team director. The team secured the services of star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya ahead of the auction for 15 Cr INR. He has also been named the captain of the team. 

The junior Pandya has been under scrutiny by the cricket critics due to his injury issues. His shoulder injury has led him to not bowling in matches taking from the dynamism he had to offer.  The team director of the Gujarat franchise Vikram Solanki  recently revealed that the star cricketer is working hard on his fitness, and the team should be patient with what they demand from the player.

“Hardik is working extremely hard in all aspects of his game, from the rehabilitation and recovery and playing a full part but we have to be patient with the demands, ” said Solanki

Solanki also praised the star cricketer for his all-round abilities. He called the player a complete package when it comes to the three main aspects of the game, namely- batting, bowling and fielding.

Vikram Solanki also stated that the management will back Hardik Pandya as the skipper. “We see in Hardik the qualities that can turn him into a successful and very fine captain. We have spoken a couple of times about his track record as far as winning IPL titles is concerned. He has been part of our leadership group and has taken a lot of learnings from other captains like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni. He will use all that learning in developing himself as a captain and will be well backed by the support staff,” he said

Hardik Pandya has got the chance to lead a team for the first time in the Indian T20 League. Previously, Pandya used to play for the Mumbai franchise where he was an integral part of the team. But the 5-time champions released him ahead of the mega auction before the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. So, fans will be waiting to see how Pandya comeback, and if eventually leads his team to the Indian T20 League title.
