India is set to host South Africa for the five-match T20I series from June 9. The series will be played when the country is experiencing a heat wave. Generally, the Indian team doesn’t host another at this time of the year. The last time they hosted a team was Afghanistan in 2018 when the Asian team came to play a one-off Test match.
Meanwhile, with only two days left for the start of the series, Proteas Chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi has taken a dig at Delhi’s weather. Currently, the temperature in some of the Delhi localities is around 45 degrees Celsius which is hard to survive. Shamsi took to Twitter and wrote, “Just a cool 42 degrees outside, not hot at all lol.”
In reply, Mazher Arshad said “43 in Lahore” suggesting that the temperature in one of Pakistan’s major cities is not so forgiving as well. In reply, the South African said “How do people survive in this heat.”

Talking about the series, the Indian team has given opportunity to a lot of fringe players such as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda, Dinesh Karthik, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, etc, with Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik earning maiden call-ups. The Team will be led by KL Rahul and his deputy would be Rishabh Pant. On the other hand, senior players will head to England later this month.
They will be playing the fifth Test match and three ODIs and T20Is in the United Kingdom. For South Africa, only Tristan Stubbs is the one to get a maiden call-up while Wayne Parnell will be part of the team after 2017.
