Boult became the first New Zealand bowler to clinch a wicket on the very first delivery of an innings in the ODI World Cup. He also became the joint second-most Wickettaker on the very first ball of the innings in ODI Cricket. On the other hand, Litton Das also became the first batter to register a Golden Duck in a World Cup match.
It’s worth noting that after winning the first two games of the ongoing tournament, the Kiwis are now playing under regular skipper Kane Williamson. Williamson, who was running out of action due to injury, made a comeback against Bangladesh on Friday. He replaced in-form Will Young in the squad as team management persisted with out-of-form Mark Chapman.
Bangladesh continues to struggle against Kiwi bowlers
Talking about the game, after the first wicket, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan and Mehndi Hasan Miraz added 40 runs for the second wicket. However, they failed to build momentum as pacer Lokie Ferguson clinched two back-to-back wickets. His amazing bowling performance was supported by Mitchell Santner, and both outplayed the Bangladeshi batting line-up.
Soon, Bangladesh was crumbling at 61/4 in 14 overs. It’s worth noting that this is one of the most important games for Bangladesh ahead of some high-voltage matches. In the next five matches, the team will be facing Australia, India, and Pakistan, along with qualifying teams. A win here might help them propel ahead in the ongoing tournament.
