The ODI World Cup 2023 is just a couple of days away and the excitement is building up. The first match between England and New Zealand is set to be played at the Narendra Modi stadium. The venue in Ahmedabad is the biggest cricket ground in the world with a capacity of 132000.
With such a capacity of the ground, it would be hard to fill it in every match. Therefore, the Indian Cricket Board and the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) are working towards reaching a full stadium.
The BJP set out to gather more than 40,000 women for England vs New Zealand World Cup match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. They will also be treated to free breakfast and the tickets are also paid for them.
This will be a great initiative that has been taken by the Indian Cricket Board and the ruling party of the country. The growth of cricket in India especially amongst women will also increase. More women will be able to take up jobs and develop a career if they have the interest. Giving women the right exposure will surely be a good step for Indian cricket in India.
England set for a reunion against New Zealand in Ahmedabad
England is prepared to defend their ODI World Cup crown while playing in sub-continental conditions. This is something they have yet to fully grasp during their reign of supremacy with the white ball. However, this will likely be their hardest task to date but are still favourites to do so.
The ODI World Cup 2019 winner Jason Roy was the most ruthlessly cut from England’s squad. Roy was so important at the top of the order in 2019, but injuries and a lack of form caused him to be removed. Harry Brook, who will be travelling as the backup batter made the squad instead of him. Dawid Malan’s performance has secured his position as opener alongside Jonny Bairstow.
