Jasprit Bumrah will be back from injury and has been selected as the captain of team India for their T20I series against Ireland in August, marking his much anticipated comeback to international cricket. Bumrah has been recovering from a back stress fracture since the home T20I match against Australia last year. Since then, he has remained out of all formats of the game.
The star pacer missed every significant international commitment at that time, particularly the T20 World Cup and the IPL while playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI). Given that India will host the fifty-over World Cup in October, his comeback to the side is a huge morale boost for the country. Bumrah will be helped by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was selected as India’s skipper for the Asian Games. Ruturaj has been selected as the vice-captain for this upcoming tour and will be given a chance to assess the side.
Bumrah will not be the skipper of India for the first time in his career. The bowler had to take over the captaincy of the team for the postponed fifth Test against England last year since Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul were unable to play. England claimed the Test with seven wickets, resulting in a 2-2 tie in the series.

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is additionally making a comeback following a lengthy absence due to injuries. He was also receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), similar to Bumrah, and would attempt to demonstrate his fitness during the three-match series in Ireland.
With the exceptions of Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Mavi, most of the squad is similar to that assigned for the Asian Games. All-rounder Shivam Dube, who had a spectacular IPL 2023 season along with the Chennai Super Kings, has been called back. In the meantime, Rinku Singh might make his international debut within the series.
Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal, who play in the Caribbean T20I series, were not chosen for the Ireland series. On August 18, Ireland and India will begin their three-match T20I series. On August 20 and 23, respectively, the next two matches will be played. The Village in Malahide, Dublin, will serve as the venue for the entire series.

He recently made a full recovery from a serious injury, and now he's the team captain? How ironic. Long live the selectors!
