India is squaring off against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 at The Oval in London. Australia has increased their lead with a 296-run lead, the Aussies concluded Day 3 at 123 for 4 in the second innings. To stay in the game, India must be at their best in the six remaining complete sessions. But, will there be six full sessions over the next two days of the match?
Notably, there was the perception of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall on the last two days of the Test Championship finals and it has worried fans. It’s worth noting that, the UK weather department has issued a Yellow alert all over the country for Saturday and Sunday. However, the latest visuals from the ground seem good as there is no sign of clouds.
Meanwhile, Australia is leading the finals of the World Test Championship by a fair margin as they have a hefty lead of 296 runs. They scored 123/4 in the second innings with Marnus Labuschange and Cameron Green remained not out till the stumps. Labuschange in his innings scored unbeaten 41 runs off 118 balls with the help of four boundaries while Cameron Green scored 7 runs off 27 balls with the help of a boundary.
“India can chase 370 as they have Kohli”, says Sourav Ganguly
As Australia is continuously strengthening their lead in the WTC final game, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly believes that India can chase 370 or 400. He said that India can do so as they have the best chaser in the world Virat Kohli. “If India has to chase 360 or 370, then India will be in the game. They have Virat Kohli, the best Chaser in the world & many class players as well. So anything can happen in the last two days”, said Ganguly on Star Sports.
Ganguly also praised India skipper Rohit Sharma and said, “Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has been brilliant today, his bowling rotation & fielding has been spot on.” Meanwhile, India will be worried too as their first innings hero Ajinkya Rahane has injured his finger during batting.
However, speaking about the same, Rahane said that it won’t hurt him in the second innings. He said, “Happy with the way I batted. Had a good today. We were looking to get 320-330 but overall we had a good day. Bowling wise we bowled well. Everyone chipped in. It is hurting but I don’t think that it will hurt in the second innings.”
Here is how fans react to weather predictions for the WTC finals:
