2008 IPL champions and last year’s finalists, Rajasthan Royals are now dependent on luck to qualify for the playoffs. The inaugural champions started the tournament with a bang as they won four out of five games in the ongoing season. However, what followed was two back-to-back losses and a win and then three back-to-back losses. Now, they had only five wins in 11 games and needed to win their remaining three.

They registered an emphatic win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. However, in their last home game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, they lost by 112 runs, ruining their efforts against KKR. With this, they needed to win their last game against Punjab Kings by either 11 runs or in 18.3 overs. The Jaipur-based side won the game in 19.4 overs only. Now, they need RCB to lose by at least six or more runs against GT.

Also, Mumbai Indians’ NRR is negative which is why a loss for them against Sunrisers Hyderabad will do the trick for RR. Meanwhile, India and Rajasthan Royals’ off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin posted a photo of a team huddle. The image was captioned “When you are trying to tell everyone that Gujarati food should be our favourite and Telugu should become our teams official language for today.”

The fans are having fun after seeing this tweet.

Rajasthan Royals have mixed feelings after the season

With the team playing their reverse fixture against PBKS, the Pink Brigade finished their 14 league games of the ongoing season. They have seven wins and as many losses. However, the only thing that goes in their favor is their positive NRR which has kept them alive barely. The first game of the last weekend of the league stage will be played between MI and SRH.

As discussed above, SRH beating MI will make it difficult for the Blue Brigade, MI to qualify. The second and the last league game of the season will see RCB host table toppers and defending champions, GT. If the defending champions win the game by six or more, RR will go through
