After sharing a photo of himself playing Minecraft on Instagram on Friday, Erling Haaland may have finally admitted what his favourite video game is.
With 52 goals in all competitions, the Manchester City striker has had a phenomenal debut season in England, leaving many to wonder what his secret is to his success. Haaland was questioned about his outlook for the remainder of the season after City’s encounter against West Ham earlier this month broke the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season.
He replied: ‘I don’t think of this (breaking more records). I sleep tonight, and then I think about three points against Leeds. I will go home now and play some video games and then sleep.’ When asked what video game he liked best, the 22-year-old declined to say because he felt it would be “too embarrassing.”
Manchester City can win the Premier League in their next game against Chelsea
However, Haaland may have finally let the secret go when he posted a picture of himself playing Minecraft on Instagram on Friday. Since its initial complete release in 2011, Minecraft has become the most popular video game in history. But young kids tend to like it, which might be why Haaland has been so anxious to keep it a secret up until now. The game may get even more popular now that Haaland has admitted to being a fan since the Norwegian forward previously demonstrated his ability to sway spectators during his debut year with City.
Following City’s 4-1 victory against Arsenal last month, when Noel Gallagher was photographed with him wearing only Y-fronts, the demand for Y-fronts increased by a startling 45%, making them more popular than boxer shorts.
Erling Haaland also demonstrated this season that he is open to new ideas when it was revealed last month that he consumes a “magic potion” to keep up his impressive goal-scoring streak. His team’s pursuit of an unprecedented treble under his leadership could not have gone better, and if City defeats Chelsea tomorrow, they will win their first trophy of the year.
