The former Indian pacer, S Sreesanth was a part of the Indian team that won the 2007 20-20 World Cup as well as the 2011 ODI World Cup. Besides a memorable bowling spell in a Test in South Africa, fans particularly remember him for taking the catch of Misbah Ul-Haq in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last month after being unsold in the auctions for the Indian T20 League for two successive years.
Sreesanth’s unique dance moves after picking up wickets during his playing days always grabbed everyone’s attention. He also featured in a dance reality show, showcasing his dancing talents. Thus, the revelation on his part that he will be a part of a dance-oriented Bollywood movie is no surprise. Apart from acting, he will also be singing a fast number in the movie. The recording for the song has already begun in a studio in Kochi, the music of which has been given by Sajeev Mangalath. Notably, the movie in which Sreesanth will feature is named ‘Item Number One’, which will be directed by Palooran.
“I am really honoured and thanks to NNG films and especially Palooran, the director and Sajeev, the music director. This is my first Hindi project in which I will be singing a song and dancing. I am really grateful that the directors as well as all the people in Kerala are really supporting me, especially after my retirement. I am not from an artistic family; this is not my career but I will be giving 100 percent in this profession. As a sports person, with all respect to other cricketers and sportspersons who have done acting, believe me, I can do much better,â€- said Sreesanth as quoted by rediff Sports.
On his character in the film, the former cricketer said – “I am playing a good character in the movie. People have seen me dancing on reality shows but this is a dance-oriented comedy movie. It’s got suspense in the end and a great climax. I am really looking forward. I have never danced even in my Tamil movie. This is why I am really excited. This is an interesting and challenging role for me.â€
The fans will be eagerly awaiting the release of the movie and watch how the former Indian pacer performs on-screen.
