Former India captain MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful skippers in cricket history. He is the only one to win all Multinational trophies during his captaincy tenure. Under his leadership, India won the 20-20 World Cup and ODI World Cup in 2007 and 2011 respectively, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. The wicketkeeper-batter is currently preparing for the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League 2023. His team will face defending champions, Gujarat in the first game of the tournament. Ahead of the cash-rich league, Dhoni made a special visit to Indian Army Camp in Jodhpur.

In some recent pictures, the former India skipper can be seen attending a function at Indian Army Camp in Jodhpur. The Ranchi-born can be seen wearing his Army Uniform with pride. Notably, in 2011, Dhoni was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Territorial Army. He is a part of 10 Para forces which is also known as Desert Scorpions. This is one of the paratroopers’ commands of the Indian Army. The three-time World Championship-winning captain served Army for almost two weeks in 2019 when he was posted in Jammu and Kashmir for a couple of weeks.

According to some news reports, Dhoni visited Jodhpur to attend a special program of the Indian Army organized by his unit. Notably, MS Dhoni is set to lead Chennai in the upcoming 16th edition of the Indian T20 League as he took charge last year after Ravindra Jadeja refrained to continue as skipper of the franchise.

Will this be Dhoni’s last season of the Indian T20 League?

The 41-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket on 15 August 2020 with an emotional social media post. He played his last game for India during the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand in the semifinals where he failed to pull Men In Blue out of the danger as the team lost the game.

Although, this year’s Indian T20 League could be his last outing in Yellow Jersey as Dhoni is looking beyond cricket. This will also force Chennai to find his appropriate successor who can lead this team. Star India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and England Test Captain Ben Stokes are some of the players who can replace Dhoni.

Notably, Chennai signed Dhoni during the inaugural player’s auction of the Indian T20 League in 2008 for a whooping sum of one million USD. Meanwhile, fans react to his love for the Indian Army. A Twitter used said, ” jitna pyar kro iss bnde se kam h.”
