Chennai and Hyderabad have got off to a horrible start in the Indian T20 League. Both teams are yet to win a game, having played three and two games respectively. Chennai came into the tournament as defending champions but have hardly looked like a team that won the championship last season despite retaining the core. The loss of Deepak Chahar is clearly evident in the bowling while the lack of runs from Ruturaj Gaikwad has been an area of concern.
Chennai will need runs from Gaikwad at the top to give the middle order players like MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu a platform to build the innings. The bowling is not the best but is capable to defend a par score.Â
Meanwhile, Hyderabad is very underrated. The likes of Kane Williamson, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran are some genuine match-winners in the batting department. However, players have not lived up to the expectations. The bowling is also good with T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik. The team may bring in Marco Jansen in place of Romario Shepherd.
Pitch ReportÂ
The surface at the DY Patil stadium has been slightly on the slower side and teams have struggled to put a big score on the board. The most recent match played on the ground was between Lucknow and Delhi where the latter could only muster 149 in the first inning.
