Hardik Pandya hit 63 off 33 balls to help India beat England in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup in Adelaide. In response, openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales remained unbeaten on 80 and 86 runs, respectively, to help England reach the target in 16 overs. India was thus eliminated from the tournament after a 10-wicket defeat.

During England’s chase, Team India made a couple of poor fielding attempts. With Mohammed Shami‘s disastrous ninth over of England’s innings, Hales and Buttler ran four runs. Shami, who was stationed at fine-leg, attempted to pass the ball to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was sprinting in from the third man.

However, Shami’s throw went over Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s head, allowing Buttler and Hales to score two more runs. India captain Rohit Sharma was not pleased with Shami’s fielding, as evidenced by his animated gestures. The video of the same has gone viral over the internet.

Earlier, Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli led India to a respectable total. The pair added 61 runs for the fourth wicket before Kohli was dismissed on 50 by Chris Jordan, England’s top bowler with three wickets.

Kohli, who had previously scored three half-centuries in the tournament, also became the first batter to score 4,000 or more T20I runs during his knock at the Adelaide Oval. He scored over 290 runs in six appearances in the mega event in Australia.

In the meantime, England has advanced to play against Pakistan in the Finals. The Men in Green had a dominant victory over Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the mega encounter on the 13th of November.

India, who topped Group 2 with four wins in five matches, on the other hand, is looking for their first global title since winning the Champion Trophy in 2013. In 2007, they won the inaugural 20-20 World Cup. They will now look forward to the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be held in India.
