India clinched a historic win at the MCG against Pakistan in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup on Sunday. Virat Kohli turned out to be the differential between the two teams as he played a sensational knock of 82 off of 53 and took his team across the finish line.
There has been a lot of talk about Kohli’s resurgence following India’s win with many hailing him as the best batter there is. Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar however comes with a slightly different take. Talking of Kohli’s innings, Akhtar has advised the batter to retire from T20I and focus on ODIS.
“He is back with a bang. I want him to retire from T20I because I don’t want that he puts his entire energy in T20I cricket. With similar commitment like today, he can score three centuries in ODIs,” said Akhar on his YouTube channel. Akhtar also praised the Pakistan team for their efforts in the match and asked them to keep their heads high.
One of the best matches in history- Shoaib Akhtar
“Pakistan have done marvelously well. Don’t be down, you all really played well. India did really well… they won one of the best matches in the history. It was a complete World Cup match, “ said the former player. Talking more about the match, Akhtar said that it was a complete World Cup match and had everything a spectator could ask for.
“It had everything- dropped catch, run-out, no-ball, controversies, stumping,” Akhtar said on his YouTube channel. “World Cup has just started, World Cup begins only when India-Pakistan play and the two teams will face off again. Pakistan will see India again, later in this World Cup,” Akhtar said.
India won the match by three wickets on the very last ball after an eventful last over which gave away 16 runs. India now sets its sights on the next opponent Netherlands whom they clash against on October 27th in Sydney. Pakistan meanwhile will play against Zimbabwe on the same day.
