Indian T20 League 2022: Chennai vs Kolkata – Heads to head record & stats

Chennai and Kolkata will play the opening match of the 15^th edition of the Indian T20 League (ITL). This blockbuster clash will be played on 26^th March 2022. MS Dhoni, who has been the captain of the Chennai side since 2008, has decided to pass on the baton to Ravindra Jadeja. Kolkata too will have Shreyas Iyer leading their team this year. Needless to say, both outfits will look to start their campaign a win under their belt.

Sunil Narine has prized out 20 batters with the ball, which is a record in Chennai-Kolkata clashes. The second place is occupied by two men,  Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who have taken 16 wickets each.

In the 2021 edition of the ITL, it was one-way traffic. Chennai beat the Kolkata in both the league stage matches. In the final of the tournament, the then MS Dhoni-led side produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to defeat the Kolkata side by 27 runs to lift their fourth ITL title. Faf du Plessis scored a murderous 86 in the final to power Chennai to a win.
