Twitter reacts as reports of Ramiz Raja getting sacked as PCB chief resurfaces

Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is set to be sacked and Najam Sethi is all set to take over as the new chief of the PCB, the reports that emerged on December 21, Wednesday. The outgoing chief has been hitting the headlines for his indecisiveness and lack of ability to get things sorted when things were falling apart for Pakistan in the longest format of the game.

Much to the dreariness of the Pakistani fans, Raja has an alleged rift with the Pakistani skipper Babar Azam and it added fuel to the burning fire, as the right-handed batter and his men lost the three-match Test series against England and got whitewashed for the first time in the 75 years history.

Before the fans could make a move on, the news of Raja’s sacking left them in splits as a few claimed that the former Pakistani cricketer must have continued his stint as the chief of the board while a few others were happy with the decision, citing his lack of leadership as the chairman of the board of a Test playing nation.

What could new era bring for Pakistan team?

As things stand, there are reports claiming that the PCB is aiming for a complete revamp of the squad and it remains to be seen if the board would take a tough stance ahead of the upcoming 50-over World Cup to be held in India in 2023. The new chief will have a few issues to sort out and the ongoing rift with the Indian Cricket Board regarding the Asia Cup 2023 would be one among them.

Sethi will have a big task given that the board has been facing criticism for creating pitches like roads and the first Test between the Three Lions and Pakistan would come as a prime example of it. It remains to be seen if the new chairman would sort things out at the earliest and make a move on from all of the chaos that has been surrounding the board and the national team.
