Hanuma Vihari fulfilled his boyhood aim of recording a Test century during India’s previous trip to the West Indies in 2019. After four years and ten Tests, Vihari is at a turning point. Vihari took over at No. 3 after Cheteshwar Pujara was benched in the home series versus Sri Lanka at the beginning of last year. He was only able to maintain it for three Tests, during which he earned scores of 58, 31, 35, 20, and 11.
In Bengaluru, where India defeated Sri Lanka in less than three days, two of those games were played on a rank turner. The other occurred in Birmingham during the fifth Test matchup with England in July of last year, where seam and swing could be countered. Since that Test, Vihari hasn’t appeared for India. His final totals were 839 runs over 28 innings, five fifty-plus, and one hundred. At age 29, Vihari is currently attempting to strike a balance between staging a return and making the most of any chance that presents itself.
I’ll try to keep getting better and help my stateside or zone: Hanuma Vihari
Although Vihari doesn’t like to wait for others to make mistakes so he may get his chance, he claims to have learned about letting go as well as is now only concerned with beginning over after allowing the sense of being passed over to bother him for months.
Hanuma Vihari said, “It’s always tough to make a comeback. Once you’re dropped, it plays on your mental side as well. It affects your mindset. I’ve gone through that last season. This season, I want to keep everything aside and focus on my batting, try to get better at my skills and do what I’ve been doing best for the last 12 years in first-class cricket. If it happens, it happens. If not, I’ll try to keep getting better and help my stateside or zone.”
Fans react to Hanuma Vihari’s statement on getting dropped from the Indian test team: –
Vihari said "I am still not sure why I was dropped, I thought whenever I got a chance, I did my best – maybe my best was not good enough for the team, but again, I will keep trying to get better and that all a sportsman can do". [Espn Cricinfo] pic.twitter.com/Ok0BA9bBEk

I will tell…
He always was there when Team wanted to SAVE the test, drew it.
He never Scored in a win.
Even Pujara learned the art of Scoring fast now,
He needs to Score runs and not just accumulate dot balls.— Deepak Sonar (@deepaksonar911) July 11, 2023
What happened was he went and played in the county to hone his skills, India did a googly on him and dropped him on English tour. He should have done the same once again but he opted to play DPL in Bangladesh, that was an excuse selectors were looking for and picked Shreyas.

Vihari should be come a citizen of a CARICOM country lol, he'll get plenty of match time (except windies play very few test series these days)

Vihari ji you are good no doubt but we have to score runs as well, every time I have seen you you just block every ball like saving a test match.
When needed it's an obvious choice but can't do it in normal scenarios

Unfortaunely his PR game wasn’t strong enough. Also no IPL contract means he’s obviously not the right fit for the test setup. He surely needs to try harder because merit isn’t enough for Indian selectors.

Main point of this selection committee is that they did not explain the reason to Players why he is dropped
MSK Prasad committee was batter than this— Samar Rajput (@samarbna) July 11, 2023
washington sundar has a test avg better than most in the squad and he can bowl. yet dropped.

He didn’t get selected maybe coz he’s not what the elites want in their team.
