David Warner is expected to miss the remainder of the second Test due to a concussion. For the remainder of the second Test in Delhi, Matthew Renshaw will be included in the XI. After the team arrives at the ground for the second day of play, the paperwork with the Apex Cricket Council is expected to be completed later this morning.

During a tough 15-ball innings on the first day, Warner was hit on the helmet and arm by India paceman Mohammed Siraj. Due to those hits, the opener did not join his teammates on the field for the first nine overs of India’s innings on the first evening.

“I think the medical staff will have to assess tomorrow. He is a little bit weary at the moment. He obviously got a knock to the arm and then to the head and the head has made him a little bit weary at the moment and hence why didn’t come out to field. I think the medical staff will have to figure out what happens from here on in, ” said Warner’s opening partner Usman Khawaja after play on the first day.

Warner, who has a high pain threshold, batted for over an hour before being caught behind off paceman Mohammed Shami’s delivery. He’d like to be fit and make a comeback for the third Test, which is set to take place in Indore.

As for the match, India limited Australia to 263 runs thanks to Mohammed Shami‘s excellent variations with the ball and the excellent spin combination of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. The pacer took four wickets in the innings, while both spinners took three each.

The Baggy Greens will now try to keep the home team to a minimum score. They don’t want to lose the second Test after falling short in the first in Nagpur. If Australia loses this match, India will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India has won the last three series, in 2017, 2018-19, and 2020-21.
