Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, was in Jaipur for their reverse fixture of the IPL 2023 against Rajasthan Royals. On April 27, the four-time winners were looking for a payback for their three-run loss against the Royals at home. Meanwhile, just like any other CSKs away game, the team had more supporters than the home team.
They wanted to see Dhoni for one last time as he might retire after the tournament. Ahead of the game, RR’s opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal pointed out why his team’s supporters were fewer in numbers as compared to the Super Kings. The former said that he understands the fans’ feelings towards Dhoni as the wicketkeeper batter is also liked by opposition teams.
“I can understand the fans’ feelings towards Dhoni. He is liked by even the opposing team and their supporters. I also enjoy Dhoni’s game as I am also a big fan of his. However, we must take that in our stride and concentrate on our performance. In the last match, we got overwhelming support from the Jaipur crowd, and I am hoping they would continue to cheer us despite Dhoni’s presence on the ground,” said Yashasvi while addressing the media after the practice session at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Wednesday.
MS Dhoni praised Yashasvi Jaiswal after the game
Meanwhile, in the 37th game of the ongoing IPL 2023, the 2008 winner, Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was proven right by the former India U19 player. Jaiswal scored 77 off 43 balls including eight fours and four sixes. After the left-hander got out, Dhruv Jurel (34) and Devdutt Padikkal (27*) played cameos to take the team to 202/5.
In reply, the Yellow Brigade could only reach 170/6, losing the game by 32 runs. After the game, Dhoni praised Jaiswal’s efforts with the bat.
“Yashasvi batted really well, was important to go after the bowlers and it was important to take calculated risks,” Dhoni said in the post-match.

Because he’s a player of before ipl era, people didn’t have player biases then, as to who’s a better player, everyone was awesome because everyone was Indian. Ipl created a bias, hence player rivalries. No one cares about india winning, they just want their players to shine.
