‘Ye toh darr gaya’ – Fans react as Harry Brook set to miss India tour due to personal reasons

Dan Lawarence is all set to replace Harry Brook as announced by the England Cricket Board.

Harry Brook

A devastating blow has been dealt to the England cricket team prior to their five-Test series versus India. Harry Brook, a middle-order batter, will miss all five games due to a personal flight home. The cricketer’s family members have at this time asked for privacy. All this was mentioned by the England Cricket Board in a statement.

Now that the Yorkshire batter is out, Josh Bohannon, who is leading the England Lions during their unofficial Test series versus India, might be the visiting team’s replacement. In 67 games in the first class, he also averages 47.87.

The statement from the England Cricket Board read as follows, “Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. He will not be returning to India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space. The England selectors will confirm a replacement player for the tour in due course.”

In order to be ready for the highly anticipated trial by spin against players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, as well as Axar Patel, Ben Stokes’ team is presently training in Abu Dhabi. The middle-order presence of Brook will be much missed by the English, especially after his outstanding late-2022 performance in Pakistan. In all three Test matches, the 24-year-old made a century, amassing 468 runs with an average of 93.60.

He scored 186 runs in just 176 deliveries during a Test match at Wellington, New Zealand, in February 2023. The young player enjoyed a respectable Ashes series in England as well, scoring 85 at his best. He was alos able to amass 363 runs at 40.33 in five Test matches. On January 25, the India-England series kicks off in Hyderabad with the first Test.
