Team India’s advantage is now less than 100 runs after an incredible batting collapse that saw them bowled out for 153. During the first day of the second Test match against South Africa they lost six wickets for 0 runs, With six wickets remaining during tea, India enjoyed a commanding 56-run advantage, with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli looking particularly strong. Following tea, even Kagiso Rabada, after having bowled brilliantly during the middle session, allowed 28 runs in 5 overs.
Rahul’s error, though, set off a series of events that saw Ngidi’s extra bounce eliminate three Indian batters in a single over. Unbelievably, three more Indian wickets fell in the following five deliveries, setting off an incredible sequence of events. Only three people have managed to score in double figures for Team India in their first innings. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were the only ones who were able to score in excess of 35 runs in their innings.
Team India strike first during second Test
During the first session of action on Wednesday, January 3, in Cape Town, South Africa were removed for 55 runs after failing to score with the bat during the first inning of the second Test against Team India.
In today’s second Test, Proteas skipper Dean Elgar chose to bat first after winning the toss. Following that, everything went wrong for them as their batting lineup crumbled under a furious Indian pace assault. Mohammed Siraj finished with amazing figures of 6/15 after bowling a scorching nine-over session. He reminded everyone that he can be a boon for batters when he is on song.
After taking the last few wickets, Jasprit Bumrah as well as Mukesh Kumar dismissed the hosts for 55 after 23.2 overs. Since their readmission, this is the hosts lowest ever total in Test cricket. Kyle Verreynne and David Bedingham have been the only batters for the hosts to score in double figures.
Fans react as India suffer horrible batting collapse as they lost last 6 wickets for no runs: –
