Jofra Archer is going to be travelling alongside the World Cup team to continue his rehabilitation as a travelling reserve. Luke Wright, the national team selector announced this news today morning.
Throughout the past few months, fitness difficulties have hampered Archer’s career. He has been dealing with a recurrent stress fracture in his right elbow that has prevented him from playing in the second straight Ashes series and for a third consecutive English summer.
Jofra Archer’s injury continued during the Indian Premier League where he could only play five games. Despite these difficulties, Archer has persevered and demonstrated tenacity by seeking treatment for his injuries from England along with Sussex medical teams.
Archer’s recent fitness issues have raised questions about his capability to compete in important events. Archer has been confirmed named a reserve player for the England squad despite not being named to England’s final 15-man World Cup roster because of his persistent elbow ailment.
“We are still working on his fitness day-by-day”: Luke Wright
Archer will be travelling with the team, according to England national selector Luke Wright, who also said that he may be needed if any injuries arise during the competition. The pacer should accompany the World Cup team and focus on his recovery, according to Wright.
Luke Wright said in an official statement by the England Cricket Board. He wrote, “The best thing for Jofra is to travel with the team and keep working with his rehab and being around the physios and the team. We are doing all we can to get him ready to be as good as he can be.
He added, “If there was an injury he might be able to replace at the back end of the tournament, but obviously we are still working on his fitness day-by-day and we’ll have to keep accessing that.”
On September 17, England made the announcement of their World Cup roster, with Harry Brook replacing Jason Roy.
