Rumours of Heath Streak’s demise circulated widely, causing concern and confusion among cricket fans and the sporting community. Speculation regarding his health and well-being spread across social media platforms. It’s worth noting that Streak’s bowling partner, Henry Olonga, clarified the rumours and said Streak is still not out by sharing his chat with him.

Earlier today, Olonga took to Twitter and posted about the departure of Streak. He said, “Sad news is coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP, @ZimCricketTV legend. The greatest all-rounder we produced It was a pleasure playing with you. See you on the other side when my bowling spell comes to an end.”

Debuting in 1993 against Pakistan, Streak rapidly made his mark, capturing eight wickets in his second Test in Rawalpindi. He has been phenomenal throughout his career and has led Zimbabwe to glory. Streak’s illustrious 12-year career spanned 65 Test matches and 189 ODIs. He shouldered Zimbabwe’s cricketing pride, often single-handedly, during challenging times.

Heath Streak has trained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

Streak, who led Zimbabwe from 2000 to 2004, has been one of the biggest advertisers in the game. Streak’s bowling prowess set him apart, and he remains the sole Zimbabwean cricketer to claim 100 Test wickets. Beyond his impressive bowling, he exhibited batting skills in the middle order, amassing 1990 Test runs and 2943 ODI runs throughout his career.

Notably, his solitary Test century, an unbeaten 127 against the West Indies in Harare, is a testament to his all-round ability. In his career, he has taken 216 Test wickets and 239 ODI wickets, becoming the only Zimbabwe cricketer to do so. Post-retirement, Streak transitioned to coaching roles with various teams, including Zimbabwe, Scotland, Bangladesh, the Gujarat Lions, and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Streak’s legacy encountered a setback when the Apex Cricket Council imposed an eight-year ban on him for anti-corruption violations. Despite this shadow, his impact as a cricketer, captain, and coach remains profound, leaving an indelible mark on the cricketing world. However, a rumour about him just shook the cricket world and left fans in shock.
