Joshua Da Silva, the wicketkeeper-batter for the West Indies, claimed that his mother is a huge Virat Kohli supporter and attended the current second Test to watch the former skipper of India rather than her own son.
After the second day of the current second Test on Friday, Da Silva’s mother finally got to watch her beloved player, fulfilling a lifelong goal. When Team India’s players proceeded to board the bus returning to their hotel, Da Silva’s mother gave Kohli a bear hug and a kiss, according to the video taken by senior reporter Vimal Kumar.
“I have got more centuries away from home”: Virat Kohli on scoring centuries
Virat Kohli, the team India’s premier batsman, has brushed down rumours that he has not reached a hundred in an away Test for roughly five years after reaching his 29th Test century. The 34-year-old emphasised that he has achieved greater Test century totals in away from home matches than at home.
The former Team India skipper spoke to the media after the end of day two’s play. Virat Kohli said, “Honestly, these things are for others to talk on the outside. I have got 15 centuries away from home, not quite a bad record. I have got more centuries away from home than I have got at home. We haven’t played 30 Test matches away from home. I don’t know how many we have played but it is not a big number. I have got a few 50-plus scores but, with me if I get a fifty it is like I missed out on a hundred and if I get 120 it is like I missed out on a double hundred.”
It was Kohli’s first Test hundred outside of home since December 2018 when he scored 121 from 206 deliveries on Day 2 of the second Test versus the West Indies in Port of Spain in Trinidad. In his dogged performance, he hit 11 fours as India scored 438 runs during their opening inning.
